President's Message:
Welcome to our website. I hope you find it useful! The Deaf Ski Club is a social club dedicated to skiing and open to the deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing who are interpreters or ASL students or learners. We have 264 members from across the United States and Canada, but most of our members live in New York, in Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse, Albany, Binghamton, Upstate of New York, Long Island, and New York City. We also have active members in Vermont, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Maryland, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Florida, Alaska, Virginia, Ohio, Arkansas, Illinois, California, New Hampshire, and Nevada.
What we do mostly is ski! We generally run 2-8 trips each year to the Bristol, Greek Peak, Whiteface Mt, Gore Mt, Vermont, and Utah starting before the New Year and ending in March.
There are some great local cross country skiing trails in our area. We hope there is enough snow next year to use them.
We also hold the Winter Picnic for fundraising in February 2007. This event is a good opportunity to socialize, talk to the trip leaders about our trips. We also hold a meeting in April for winter season 2008.
If you have any specific questions, you can email me or contact any one of the club officers. I urge you to check through our website for any questions you may have regarding our schedule or other issues. I extend an invitation to all of you who enjoy skiing to join the Deaf Ski Club on the slopes this season. If you are interested in skiing, we are always looking for volunteers to help us. I hope to see you at our meetings as well as on the mountains.
